Cathy-Jo received a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education and a Master’s in Community Health Professions where she was exposed to many disciplines outside of her own. Her career as a glass artist still draws upon what she learned at Old Dominion University, particularly when instructing and demonstrating the art of lampworking.
Cathy-Jo Ramsey is a native of Chincoteague Virginia. After a 35year career in teaching, Cathy-Jo embarked on a new creative path as a glass blower. She learned from glass masters Emilio Santini, Loren Stump and Vittorio Constantini. In 2005 Cathy-Jo juried into the D’Art Center artist collective and currently maintains work and display space there.
As an artist evolves, so too does the art of the world. In her lifetime she has seen the changes, noticed moments and development of certain styles. She feels that we are working in a thrilling time in the history of modern art. Art is an experience; it makes people feel and react. Today’s art has really honed in on this idea
